Peek-a-boo

Turns out, Camille liked this game. At least she liked it this time...

Naperville, IL

We had a great weekend in Naperville, Illinios at my cousin's high school graduation party. Camille was a champ and did great in the car - who'd have thought she would enjoy two eight-hour car trips more than just driving around town here? She was so good the whole weekend and it was so much fun that my family could finally meet her! They all adored her and couldn't believe how good-natured she was. It really was a nice weekend and I'm so glad we were able to go! Here are a few pictures from the weekend...
Taking a morning nap at the hotel room
Being poked by her Great Aunt Shiva
Playing with Grandpa
Playing an intense game of spoons!
Checking out Great Uncle Rob's cell phone
Carrying EVERYTHING that was still in the hotel room
Enjoying the car ride!

A post that I forgot to post last week...

Here are a few pictures from the past couple of days (actually, last week!). I’m not sure exactly when Aaron took the picture of him and Camille, but if you were wondering who she got her double chin from I think it’s safe to say she didn’t get it from me!

On Wednesday morning I went to the MOMS meeting at church (the topic was adoption) and Camille spent her first time in the church nursery. As you can see, she fared quite well and even got in a little nap.

Camille smiles so much these days and my heart just melts every time she grins, especially because most of the time she smiles with her tongue sticking out!

We’ve spend the past couple of days getting ready for our trip this weekend. I’m sure I’m going to over-pack, but that’s better than under-packing, right?

In case any of you are wondering, I haven’t found a job yet. I have a few prospects, but so far nothing has panned out. I’m still hopeful, though, that God has something specific in mind for me, so I’m trying to wait patiently because I know His timing is perfect. Meanwhile, we seem to be managing to get by. But it sure would be much easier if gas prices weren’t so ridiculously high! But anyway, please keep us in your prayers as I continue my job hunt. I’d really appreciate it!

Thursday was Aaron’s 23rd birthday! When he brought Camille into our bedroom at 6 am when she woke up, he was surprised to find presents waiting for him on the bed. I gave him a new blender (pathetic, I know, but we’ve really been into smoothies lately and ours broke last week) and “certificates” for me to make him some smoothies. Camille gave him a double picture frame. One side had the picture of her in the laundry basket and the other had clay imprints of her hands. Her gift was definitely better than mine, but isn’t that how it’s supposed to be anyway! Later in the day we met him at work and had lunch with him, and then he and I went out to dinner and stopped at Kohl’s for some quick shopping (I was in desperate need of summer clothes). We finished off the evening eating cake at my parents’ house with them and the Haworth’s. I think he enjoyed his first birthday as a Dad. I hope he did!

Happy birthday, Aaron! I love you so much! You are such a wonderful husband and Daddy!

Camille has learned how to roll onto her side! I'm afraid it won't be long until she figures out how to roll all the way over :)
Camille and I spent Friday at my parents’ house. It was an absolutely beautiful day and we were outside for about four hours – the longest Camille has ever been outside! She played on her jungle mat, went on a walk with Grandpa, took a cat nap in the pack ‘n play, and bounced in the bouncer while I helped my Mom plant flowers in her flower boxes.

Camille has been doing just great! She keeps getting bigger (duh!) and has been sleeping through the night every night – usually from about 9 at night to 6 the next morning. The only problem is that she doesn’t seem to want to take naps during the day anymore. A few days ago she took a three hour afternoon nap, but since then her longest nap was 30 minutes. (IF ANYONE HAS ANY NAPPING ADVICE I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!)

Next weekend we will be driving with my parents to Chicago because my cousin, Seraj, is graduating from high school. It should be quite an interesting trip, considering Camille isn’t too fond of her carseat! I’m really looking forward to going, though, and it should be a nice weekend. And I’m sure we’ll have tons of more pictures to post when we get back!

Our visit with the Bauer's!

This morning we went to St. Paul to visit Cathy, Stella, and new baby Charlotte (who was born the same day as Camille). I nannied for Stella from when she was three months old until she was a year old, and boy do I miss her. It was so great to see them - she sure is growing up! Here are a few pictures from our visit...

We finally found a pacifier that Camille can keep in her mouth!

Here are a few other pictures from the past few weeks that I finally had a chance to get up here:
Aunt Megan and Adeline having fun with the camera!

Wearing her "Little Version of Daddy" shirt.

Helping Mommy do the laundry!

Thanks for the t-shirt, Elyse! One day it will fit me :)

Taking a walk around Maple Island at Grandma and Grandpa Martindale's house.

Camille was having a great time with her toys, but as soon as I turned on the Twins game she had to turn around so she could watch it with me!

Spending some quality time with Auntie Megan.

Happy Mother's Day!

What a wonderful first Mother's Day this has been for me! It all began with a very yummy breakfast in bed (more food than I could even eat) and Mother's Day cards and a gift certificate for a pedicure! We then enjoyed lunch with my parents - Aaron grilled chicken and pizza - and Camille's first trip to the Minnesota Zoo. The weather was perfect for the zoo and we all had a great time. Tonight we are going to have dinner at David and Jeannie's and going to enjoy spending time with Adeline and Lydia (and Michael and Sara too, of course).
